Hybrid Technology

Hybrid Technology

By "Hybrid Technology" we understand the assembly of circuits on ceramics, glasses or sapphire. These substrates can not only carry packaged and unpackaged components (Chips, Dice) attached by gluing, soldering or wire bonding, but also integrated resistors in thick- or thinfilm technology that can be trimmed on the substrate.

The following list names some reasons why Hybrid Technology is the technology of choice when your applications depend on highest reliability and performance:

Reliability

The thermal expansion coefficients of substrates are close to those of the components assembled onto them. This is a prerequisite for reliability at high temperatures and extreme temperature cycling.

By their stiffness and hardness ceramic boards can withstand enormous acceleration, vibration and other forms of mechanical stress.

The anaorganic substrates show no outgassing, they practically don't take on water and show no relevant aging.

High Power

Thermal conductivities 100-1000 times higher than those of FR4 or related materials make it easy to integrate high power circuits within constrained spaces. The good heat dissipation also improves the lifetime x power product of the circuits.

High Frequency / Speed

Thinfilm hybrids can integrate resistors with 0.01% tolerance and TCs below 10ppm/K, circuits on ceramic or sapphire substrates offer ultra low leakage currents and high thermal conductivities allow thermal matching for discrete circuits close to those of monolithic devices.

Applications are among others measurement circuits in the pA-range, temperature compensated circuits or miniaturized sensor frontends.

Protection

The sealing processes employed by Quintenz Hybridtechnik not only can provide effective shielding from environmental influences and electromagnetic radiation, they can also offer protection from forgery and prying eyes.
